A Poem a Day: a Series – Day 162

Day 162: “To Not Know”

I don’t know

Say it with me,

I don’t know

It’s okay to not know

To not venture a guess

To not speculate

To not make believe you know more

Than someone else

Someone dumb enough to ask the question

It’s actually stronger,

Braver,

Smarter

To ask the question

To say, ‘I don’t know’

To stop,

Pause

Listen

Ask someone else

To be real

Level

Aunthentic

And not hide behind an imagined superiority

The ego-centric belief that if someone finds out you don’t know as much

You’ll lose all of the respect and reverence you’ve garnered

You’ve actually already lost it

If you can never admit

You don’t know
